Pricing for Premium Rate Services (Shortcodes)

BulkSMS can provide you with a shortcode number (for example, 34010). This is the premium rate service that allows you to charge for incoming SMS messages that are sent to a shortcode. This shortcode can be used for information requests, information gathering, voting lines or competitions.

The table below shows the net revenue that could be generated using Premium Rate Services.

BulkSMS offers two different types of shortcodes offerings as part of its premium rate services:

Dedicated shortcode (5 digit number):

  • 1 FREE return SMS (not on standard-rated shortcodes)
  • Two (2) weeks to setup
  • Minimum volume requirement (Vodacom requires a minimum volume of 3000 SMS’s per month)
  • Setup fee: R1710.00 incl. VAT.
  • Administrative fee: R570.00 incl. VAT per month.
  • Large incoming capacity - around 10 SMS's per second.
  • Could be used as Standard Rated shortcode which does not generate revenue.

Keyword on a shared shortcode (5 digit number):

  • 1 FREE return SMS (not on standard-rated shortcodes)
  • Two (2) working days to setup.
  • You need to select a keyword.
  • No minimum volumes required.
  • No setup fee.
  • Administrative fee: R570.00 incl. VAT per annum.
  • Large incoming capacity - around 10 SMS's per second.
  • Could be used as Standard Rated shortcode which does not generate revenue.
